Alfred Hitchcoccks essay Why Thrillers thrive

We believe that the main points that Hitchcock is trying to put across in the article that thrillers are used to put a insecurity to the viewer to make them feel as if there in the characters shoes 'we don't sit by as spectators; we participate' therefore we are subconsciously afraid of what is going to happen and keeps them on the edge of their seats. It gives the impression that they are there feeling what the character is feeling but with the assurance that they are in a safe environment.
